Bethany Bennett A new series! I'm not sure how much I can share right now, but it will focus on working class heroines and female friendships ;)
Bethany Bennett The core inspiration can come from anywhere. A snippet of dialogue, an article, a documentary.
But it's what you do with it that makes the difference. I can't write only when inspired to put words on the page.
Building the habit of writing is how books are made, and I've had to learn that as a newbie. That means different things for different people. We all have our own process. Some write every day. Some have certain office hours. Some work in their words any way they can manage. I dictate a lot, usually while driving or walking with the Mini.
Bethany Bennett Any Rogue Will Do has an intimate scene that takes place on a balcony. That scene was the first piece of these characters my brain spit out. I'd just read an article on the role women's fashion played in espionage and war. Basically, when the skirt silhouette allowed, women would shuttle spies in and out of places.
Since the Misfits series is set during the Regency, using this information called for a masquerade ball and a hero willing to see what else he could find to do under a skirt.
Bethany Bennett Book 2 of the Misfits of Mayfair series! The hero is Calvin, best friend to the hero of Any Rogue Will Do. Cal was such a strong character when I wrote the first book. I found myself telling him to shut up and stop stealing the scene, so it's actually a relief to give him his HEA. West End Earl, out summer 2021 from grand Central Forever.
Bethany Bennett I can work in my PJs at 3 am, or dictate while on the road. Being a writer is awesome if you want an incredibly versatile work environment.
