Des M. Astor I looked in the mirror and frowned deeply. My reflection smiled back.
Des M. Astor BUILDING WORLDS! I ADORE writing lore so much. It's my favorite thing to do. I love crafting creatures of my own, and just creating my own magic. Character building is important to me too, but I take the most pride in my creature lore. I simply adore crafting fantasy creatures and will be delving more into it as my journey continues.
Des M. Astor I tend to read other people's fantasy works, or watch some movies. Listening to music on my playlist also helps quite a bit. Video games are a HUGE inspiration for me as well to get me writing.
Des M. Astor This one is tough. Written-fiction-wise, I'm actually quite boring and don't have much of an answer. I'm really picky with vampire books. Most of the vampires I favor are actually either from shows or movies. I would say:

1. John Quinn - L. J. Smith, Night World. This is an obscure series, not as well known by Smith. Vampire Diaries is more famous. But Quinn's story was really interesting and compelling to me. He had an impressive redemption arc.

2. Jezebel Redfern - Same series as above, and despite being a half-vampire, she still totally counts. She's fierce and one that comes to mind as one of my favorite lady vampires. Though she drops the 'vampirism' for the most part, I love how she started, with little remorse. I kind of wish her story combined her soft/vampire side. My favorite line from the series was something along the lines of "her eyes looked as though they were a frightened doe accepting death" or something.

3. Maria - Shadows of the Otherside by Whitney Hill. I love how this vampire character is written. Fierce, patient, beautiful. The more I go through the series, the more I love her. She is well written.

Honorable mentions: Vladimir Tod (Eighth Grade Bites), Alexander (Vampire Kisses, yes I know I left a low review on the series, but it's not Alexander's fault, I just re-read and found Raven obnoxious), Zero (Vampire Knight, don't judge, he was a big part of my childhood despite how I HATED how the series ended)

Vampires I adore from visual media: Alucard (Castlevania - Netflix), Alucard (Hellsing Ultamite), Dracula (Dracula Untold).

From visual media are hands down my favorites, which does mean I favor vampires in visual media a bit more. Though I prefer much heavier fantasy settings.
Des M. Astor All of the ones on my "Want to Read" list of course! I'm hoping to get them completed by the end of this summer and support my fellow indie authors with detailed reviews.
