Roger Ma My favorite part about writing is being able to learn something new and interesting from every article I write. My writing process usually begins with a question (why, how, how much, what), and then proceeds to doing online research, talking to subject matter experts, and/or making a financial model to figure out the answer. Each article is a fun journey, and the payoff is worth it - being able to answer the question that was consuming me, and sharing my findings with others.
Roger Ma Just start! The more you write, the better you'll get, and the sooner you'll find your voice. You could start by writing for yourself in an old school notebook, then progress to writing on your blog, and then who knows where you'll go from there. That's exactly how I got started with writing.
Roger Ma Whenever an interesting thought pops into my head that I think would be worthwhile to write about, I start jotting down a very rough draft in the Notes app of my phone. This usually happens while I'm on the subway, and as a result of me asking myself a question (e.g., could I join AARP at age 35, is it actually cheaper and quicker to buy items from Walmart rather than Amazon, etc.).
