Phil Hughes Ciamh McDonnell is high up on my reading this summer. I read his first and am well into the second. Great stuff.
Phil Hughes I always have more than one novel on the go at any given moment. I find that writer's block is invariably related to the novel, and so when it occurs, I switch. To a lesser extent, this can also relate to a specific chapter, so switching to another chapter can work.
Phil Hughes That's a very difficult question to answer. Probably the most satisfying thing about being a writer is publishing a finished novel, so I guess that is the best thing.
Phil Hughes Never give up! Plan! Organize! I heard a coined phrase at a convention in the not too distant past: pantsing, or writing by the seat of your pants. That is how I wrote my first novel, Vendetta, and frankly, it shows in the writing and the organization of the story. I think if you are an aspiring writer, you should leave pantsing until you have reached a maturity where it is a viable option.
Phil Hughes I am currently working on Izzo's Solution, the final in the Problem, Cause, Solution series.
Phil Hughes My mind is constantly in a whorl of new ideas. I have a mental selection process that filters worthy ideas from the banal and then I write them down.
Phil Hughes All of the crime farce novels I have written to date are inspired by actual events that occurred while I lived in a fishing village just North of Naples, Italy. Gigi's Cause took its original inspiration from the arrest of the Italian Prime Minister outside the Castel dell'Ovo, which I witnessed first hand.
