I haven't found a fictional world that is better than the one we have. Most of the fictional worlds I've read about are infinitely worse.

Fictional Couple? That took some thinking about, but I think I've come up with one. Harold Fry and his wife from The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry . I'll try not to spoil anyone's enjoyment of the book, but they start out as a couple who seem to be tolerating each other's existence due to a shared tragedy. As the book, and Harold's journey continues they start to realise that they still mean a great deal to each other. Both characters are so real as is the way that they deal with their period of separation.

I can't give you a single answer to that, it comes from so many different angles. Sometimes it can be a news item, sometimes it can be from reading someone else's story. That doesn't mean that I steal their story it means that reading the story makes me ask Ahh but what would have happened if.... ? A completely different story emerges that is only loosely linked to the original. The same thing goes with news items.

Short answer is getting feedback from readers. I've written a number of stories for free websites and get messages about how the story has affected them. Very often they will tell me there story. It makes me feel so privileged that they've chosen to share it with me, and proud that my story has moved them to do so.

So far it hasn't happened to me so I can't say.
