This is a great question! A main character has to have the ability to carry the plot. They have to have a good backstory, a strong reason for being a part of the plot, and something they're trying to achieve. And they have to keep the readers interested. They have to have personality, whether good or bad, strength of character, and a compelling reason for readers to want to know more about what's going on in their lives.

Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy without a doubt!

My most recent book is the romantic suspense I'm working on, Last Showing. When I was looking to buy a house, my realtor and I would discuss my writing and her work. I had never written about a realtor before, and I thought it would make a great suspense if one of her showings turned out to be deadly. And I was off and running!

I've been blessed with an overactive imagination, and everything about life inspires me. I can hear a song or a brief snippet of conversation, watch a couple walking together, or see snow falling on pine trees, and I'm inspired.

The readers, without a doubt. I love knowing I can give someone an escape from their busy lives even if it is just for a few minutes or hours a day. And it means the world to me when a reader e-mails me to tell me they loved my book or my writing. It never gets old!

Fortunately, I've never really had writer's block. I think my brain just works too fast. Sometimes, I won't be able to pick up where I left off on one book because I don't like what I'm writing. In that case, I'll just move on to another book to give myself a break!
