Travel. No, I don't mean all the pretty scenery and romantic landscapes. It's all the waiting around at the airport and people watching. If you're sitting across from me waiting to board the plane, I'm probably writing about you. Where you're going, why you're going, who you're visiting, why it's been so long since you've been home and it turns into a story line I run with. Thank you for being my muse.

I had a professor tell me once, "Throw up on paper and then we'll smear it around." You can't do anything with a blank page. You can work with a terrible first sentence. There's no where to go but better.

We grow up sharing our imagination with our friends. I grew up building forts, playing cops and robbers, and recording play radio stations with my friends. Writing is the adult outlet for imagination. And, you can do it on the beach.

Make yourself finish it. If it was good enough in your head to get started....finish. The idea isn't bad, you just got bored with it. Find a new twist, make the original end the middle, and keep typing. Then, share it! Isn't that why you wanted to write it? Don't be shy. Honest feedback is part of the process.

I am currently working on the Promise Lake Series (Book 3). This couple is really good at arguing because he's a lawyer and she's the sass of the South. They're even better at making up! It is so much fun to write arguments between your characters because you can say all those things you always wanted to.
