The libraries and book stores went up in a fiery cloud of smoke at the same time the internet shut down for good. It was official, television was and will forever be the primary source of human entertainment.

If I could travel to any fictional world, it would be to Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight because this was the first book series in forever to get me out of my own head. I would love to take a walk along the coast of La Push with Jacob and Seth, and drop in on Billy for some of Harry Clearwater’s homemade fish fry. Naturally, after washing away the wet dog smell, I’d have a visit with the Cullen’s where Carlisle would provide my yearly checkup and Edward would realize the mistake he made marrying Bella . . . but that’s just me.

The best thing about being a writer is creating a world and characters that may provide a needed escape for readers. I know in my life there are days where escaping into a good book is better than any therapy or medication.

Write. Never stop writing. It is as simple as that.

I am currently editing a book that is very near and dear to my heart. It is a story about a girl on the brink of adulthood, ready to start her life, when she loses someone very close to her. The experience throws her off course, and it takes an unlikely visitor to help get her life back on track.

Inspiration comes in all forms for me. At times it comes from a song on the radio or a new person I meet. Other times, it can be from something as ordinary as the sound of rain hitting the pavement or the smell of fresh cut grass.

While traveling to the coast for vacation, I couldn't help but notice several motorcycles headed in the same direction. Nothing stood out about most of the bikes. The riders were all men in their late twenties or early thirties from what I could see as they zoomed around my car, but there was one that drew my attention. A black Harley near the back of the pack, and keeping steady speed with my car, was the only bike with a passenger. The young woman was strikingly beautiful, but much younger than I expected to see. Her blond hair blew wildly in the wind as she held tight to the man's waist. I couldn't help but wonder about her. Was she related to the biker? Seeing the youth in her face, I thought that more plausible than a girlfriend or wife. Where were they headed? Still lost in my thoughts, the bike sped up, and the driver glanced back. I'd never been so glad not to have been driving myself. I'd have surely wrecked. The man's face was just as striking as the woman's as he glanced over signalling a change in lanes. I watched the pair until they disappeared in a curve, but obviously they left an impression.
