Armitage was actually a result of watching Sherlock Holmes while working for the Police! I knew from watching the Robert Downey Jr film and the Sherlock series that I wanted to write a mystery series with an interesting tilt to it, but if I hadn't been working as an Admin Assistant and Typist (I share a lot of my own career history with Armitage), then I don't think I would've found her 'in' to the case. East District HQ is actually based on the Police Station I worked at while I was a District Admin Assistant!

Keep plugging away! I never even finished a book until I wrote Death By Curiosity, but I always enjoyed everything I wrote and every unfinished novel helped me work out my style of writing. If nothing else, you might as well have fun!

I don't think I have a specific cure. I've heard some people use chocolate or ice-cream and trashy TV to get them over the hurdle, but I've found that different things work at different times. Sometimes it's reading other people's books to get me motivated and excited again; sometimes it's loosening up the cogs with a few alcoholic bevvies; sometimes it's chilling out on The Sims. Going on holiday always helps as well - but unfortunately it's not something I get to do as often as I'd like...

I'm currently writing the second book about Armitage Black. I have ten books planned for the series, so I'm really excited to get moving on the first sequel :)

Just being able to escape the real world for a little while and diving into your own space. I also love it when the characters take on a life of their own and make the books go in a direction I never planned on; it's really exciting to write twists and turns that even I never saw coming.
