Move onto something else. Just like laying in bed for an hour when you're trying to fall asleep. It's pointless. Instead, try to do something else creative. I always keep a musical instrument of some kind near me. Going for a nice walk or getting a workout in always helps to clear the mind as well. That said - my best pieces of writing rarely seem to occur while I'm at the keyboard. My Apple Notes log looks like that of a mad man, but that's part of the fun.

As kids, we all love to draw, color, paint - anything super creative, right? Well just as some people never stop being an artist, I never stopped writing.

Around June 2019 the idea suddenly came to me. I'd always wanted to travel cross-country, but I had been planning to spend a week and a half in/around Germany. But, I was quickly outpriced for such a trip at that time anyway. I'd just wrapped up playing Grand Theft Auto V. which features an original take on Route 66, known as 68 in the game. Between that and one of my favorite filmmakers in Casey Neistat recently moving out to Santa Monica (66 ends at the famous pier). Ken Block and his Gymkhana series, particularly in Shamrock TX, was a big influence as well. And so in comes the road-trip concept along Historic Route 66.
