It was a logical progression from the events of the first two books, plus the kind of social commentary I love writing about. Also, I enjoy messing up my characters' lives, if things went smoothly I'd have a boring story.

Find a schedule and stick to it. Don't feel pressure to 'write every day' if your life won't allow it. But when you do find your schedule, keep it up. Even small, incremental progress counts.

No such thing. If you're having trouble with motivation, there's a problem with your story. Plot, pacing, character, something is off, you know it, and it's keeping your from moving forward. Fix that thing and the block will go away.
