Heather Curlee Novak Random things inspire me. I take voice notes on the tip of someone's chin, the smell in the air, or something that makes me feel strong emotions. Here is a random assortment:
Hubby grows beard she hates it
convivial conversation with
old vintage mail jeep
walks on ball of foot and toes, leaning into the next step quickly as if in a cautious hurry
Guy plays triangle in the band
murder Annett in toe shoes with the tutu? Choke? Strangle?
They won't all get used, but I have them when I get stuck!
Heather Curlee Novak AH! I just had this question on a panel for aspiring writers! I told them, and I tell you, JUST WRITE. Write with the confidence of a mediocre white man.
Write as you please, get better as you go, and know there will always be WORSE WRITERS than you, the same as there will be better ones. A terribly popular but awful author gave me the inspiration to attack a novel of my own. Just write the book, gather wisdom as you go.
Heather Curlee Novak I handle writer's block by not writing! I do everything and anything else. As an indie author, I am my only boss, along with hungry readers, so I can let my schedule ebb and flow. If I neeeed to write, I will listen to the play list I create for each book, start in a different scene, or talk bits of writing over with my friends or family.
Heather Curlee Novak I'm planning out the third book in my "Elm Street Stories" series. Instead of romantic suspense, this one will be young adult, so my daughters can read my work!
Heather Curlee Novak Absolutely everything and everyone is BOOK FODDER!
Heather Curlee Novak I am tearing through Brynne Weaver's Ruinous Love Trilogy!
Heather Curlee Novak I took my first international trip to Sierra Leone. I lost my voice and couldn't record the things I experienced outside of tiny haiku poems. I ended up composing 54 haiku! My Aunt Ruth heard my talk "Reluctant Missionary" about the trip and thought the pictures and haiku should be a book. VOILA!
