That is a good question! No mystery springs to mind, but I am searching my memory banks. The problem is, the banks are disorganised and covered in dust.

Sometimes an idea just pops into my head, but usually I get inspiration from something I read, fact or fiction. This works well with poetry, as I can quickly capture the essence in a short poem. This can then be polished and/or expanded at my leisure.

I am an imagistic poet so scenery will inspire me. I am also an empath so feelings and emotions also inspire me. Things just pop into my head. I haven't found the way to sit down and craft a poem at will. I have to be inspired somehow. I'll get a line or two or a word or phrase and work from that. Sometimes, I will be full of emotion and it is my search to determine what I'm feeling that comes out as a poem.

My advice is, make a start! Even a one page microstory constitutes the first step. The second step/work will then come more easily.
