Brooke Riley hope in the darkness, finding purpose, and just a general everything will be okay
Brooke Riley This is my first book being published, and when it is officially out, I will be 21.
Brooke Riley For me, it's basically therapy. I write what my soul is calling for. I write short pieces of prose/poetry mashups, I write whatever I need to write. But beyond that, when I release a piece of my soul into the world and someone messages me saying they needed that, that it speaks to exactly where they are at right now, at this moment... that is the best thing. To know you made a difference, even in one person.
Brooke Riley Write for yourself. Don't expect to make your work public. Write that first draft for yourself. It's for your eyes only. What is the book your soul craves? Write it. Pour your heart and soul in it because this isn't something that you can just do. If you're going to be writing a book with the goal of publishing, you have to love it. Whether you self-publish or go with a publishing house, it takes effort, hard work, and you have to love what you're doing or you will fail. But if you know deep down that this is for you, don't let the hard work and the fear of failure scare you. Because you WILL be great. Just put the words on a page and write it.
Brooke Riley My best friend and I sometimes brainstorm different ideas. I also get very inspired by people watching, conversations, just little random things like that. It'll spark an idea and next thing I know I'm going crazy writing it down so I don't forget.
Brooke Riley Currently, I am working on the second book of the How We Rise Trilogy, but I have various other projects as well. I think I have upwards of 50 different W.I.P ideas saved to my computer. It's kind of ridiculous. 😂😂
Brooke Riley The idea came quite a few summers ago. It really came out of nowhere, in a simple conversation with my dad. Suddenly, as we were talking, an idea of a distorted future came to me and I knew I had to write it. At that point, I was only dabbling in writing anything at all so this was all very new to me.
Brooke Riley I would travel to The Dimension from The Blood Race because it sounds really awesome. I think I would love it there. Having cool abilities and being an anomaly? IT WOULD BE GREAT!
