Suzette D. Harrison Good morning Octavia, I've been an avid reader since I was a child and didn't have one singular, favorite author. But as a young adult the book that absolutely changed my life was Dr. Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.

Suzette D. Harrison If we ever meet at an in-person book event, I will be sure to replace your Kleenex, Ms. Kim :) So glad you enjoyed Faith & Zoe's journeys in The Dust Bowl Orphan.
Suzette D. Harrison My life is pretty much straightforward so I'll have to give them so thought. I'm sure the creative in me will think of something.
Suzette D. Harrison Good morning, A. Amen-Ra! Thank you SO much for taking time to express your enjoyment of Taffy. I'm delighted.

Absolutely and yes! I'm actually working on a novella that will be part of a compilation project. The project consists of 12 authors. Each author will pen an African American romance set in a particular decade. Example: author 1 writes about 1900's, author 2 the 1910's, etc. One novella will be released each month beginning January 2018. I happen to have the 1930's. (Yassss!). My novella, The Art of Love, takes place in Prohibition and features a heroine who is a struggling artist, and a hero who is a bootlegging "rum runner." Oh, imagine the conflict! The Art of Love will be released April 2018.

Additionally, I'll be jumping into the book that comes after Taffy. It's not a sequel, but the next installment in the Camellia Series (of which, Taffy was first). Taffy and Roam will make cameo appearances, but they will not be allowed to run away with the show! :)

Suzette D. Harrison My favorite fictional couple is Taffy Bledsoe and Roam Ellis. Yes, they're from my book, TAFFY, but that's my honest response. I love the passion between them, and their dedication. Despite a seven-year breach in their relationship, their unexpected reunion clearly proves that fire and feelings are very much alive between them. Their journey to restoration is definitely unique. Their characters are huge individually, but they manage to meld into each others' hearts collectively and seamlessly. They are passion personified.
Suzette D. Harrison I walk away. I wait. I work on a different project, even a non-writing one, so as to clear the air and my brain. Forcing the issue doesn't work. It only frustrates and exacerbates the stalemate. So, I wait. And maybe bake cupcakes :)
Suzette D. Harrison TAFFY started by my delving into hidden family history with a “what if” question. What if what I was told wasn't true? What if there's more to the story than I know? What if one family member's tale wasn't fairly told? As I asked these questions the image of a young woman began to emerge. That woman became the heroine of TAFFY.
Suzette D. Harrison The best thing about being a writer is simple: writing! I view writing as a gift from God, an opportunity to give voice to His creative spirit within. Writing, just like reading, allows me to meddle and merge in other worlds and other characters' lives. It's not always easy, but when writing I do my best to leave myself behind.
