Lee Richmond I just hit 50 years of life, so I guess the big mystery would be "how the hell did that happen?"
Lee Richmond Many, many cigarette breaks (don't smoke kids. It's neither big nor clever) and a bucket of coffee. I just walk away for a while and clear my head. Music helps too. Nothing with vocals though. I find a good, creepy horror movie score really brings out the weird and puts me in the right headspace.
Lee Richmond For me personally, it's that I've always been full of shit. Now, I get to force that shit on people. I just love to write. I love to put my thoughts on a page. I write for me and if anyone else likes it then, bonus. Also, being your own boss doesn't hurt.
Lee Richmond My advice would be, sit down and write the thing. It might suck, but it might also be awesome. You won't know until you try. Plus, even if the first draft sucks, don't lose heart. First drafts always suck. You'll be surprised how a second and third draft can shape your work. Everything can be saved in the edit.
Lee Richmond I'm currently working on my latest book, Beneath. I'm also working on a screenplay for a horror film that I have been hired to write. I can't say any more about that though as I've signed a thingy. If I spill the beans they come for my children.
Lee Richmond I was a book nerd as a kid and I lapped up books from the likes of Stephen King, Clive Barker and Shaun Hutson. I always wanted to try my hand at bashing out a book, but life always seemed to get in the way. I guess I had an early midlife crisis and thought 'sod it.' I wrote 232 Jericho Avenue, just to see if I could, and that was that. Now I write full time.
Lee Richmond I know it sounds cheesy, but I had a dream I was stuck on the London Underground due to something terrible having happened in the streets above. They wouldn't let us off the train and they wouldn't tell us what had happened. I woke up and jotted it down as an idea. That idea became the basis for my latest book, Beneath.
Lee Richmond Parenthood. It's terrifying.
Lee Richmond This one is easy. Middle Earth, all the way. I want to be chased by the Nazgul while on my way to Mordor.
Lee Richmond My reading list, at present, is ridiculous. I'm currently reading The Scarlet Gospels by Clive Barker. Next on my list is I Should've Been Nicer To Quentin Tarantino by the actress, Kathleen Kinmont. We recently interviewed her for our website and I promised her I would read and review it.
