Hi JoLynn! I am still not fully oriented to Goodreads so I just saw this question! I am writing a memoir (co-written with my sister, who died in2016). I am writing a lot of articles for Psychology Today (over 40 so far) and on top of that I am still seeing quite a few clients. I just finished a wonderful book, called The Weight of Ink, by Rachel Kadish. A novel but fascinating history too.

I read a lot of blogs about how to deal with writer's block, but that is just another way of avoiding my own writing. So meditation often helps, since my mind is sometimes filled with clutter and trash, and meditation helps me clear it out and find some clarity and sense of direction.

Drinking a lot of coffee and staring at a blank page...not! It is very satisfying to get into a flow and feel the creative juices. I suppose it is like the feeling a painter gets when he just allows the image to emerge.

First, read a lot! Then just allow some "automatic" writing to happen, where you just let your thoughts flow without editing or judgment. You may be surprised by what might emerge!

My sister and I have co-written a memoir about our lives, woven together. She died of breast cancer in 2016 and I want to get it published to honor her memory. The working title is "How Will We Know When She is Dead? Two Sisters and Their Mother".
