Megan Carroll The short, less complicated answer, is that I came up with the characters in high school drama class. They stuck with me through film school where I really started to develop the big picture. I have sold a few screenplays over the years, but have always hung on to Damien and Chapel's story. A few years ago, several people mentioned that I should write a book. And...100,000 words later - Breed: Prophecy Reawakened was born! I will go into more detail on my writing journey on my blog.
Megan Carroll Having known these character for almost 20 years, their adventure overall inspires me to tell the story. The challenge is forcing myself to sit down and actually write it out. I have found music really helps me get into the writing mood. I listen to mostly soundtracks while I write, but also some instrumentals of my favorite artists as well. If I listen to songs that have lyrics, especially ones that I'm very familiar with...I tend to type the words and blend them into the sentence I'm writing.
Megan Carroll The next book in the Breed series, titled Breed: Prophecy Shattered. It will be a 4 book series when completed. I'm about 6 chapters in so far - and it's looking like it will be an emotional rollercoaster.
Megan Carroll Video games. Some simple iPhone/iPad games if it's a quick moving writer's block. But when I'm especially stumped, I play RPG's on Xbox and PS4. My current games are Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Red Dead Redemption 2, and my all time favorite Skyrim. I'm on my 6th playthrough of Skyrim and between the DLC's and Creation Club mods, I still manage to find something new each time.
Megan Carroll Even though this is more of a fictional video game world than book world, I love the lands and cities in the Elder Scrolls franchise, particularly Skyrim. After almost ten years since it's release, I still play Skyrim weekly, if not daily. I find something new with every playthrough and find each hold unique and full of individual history and culture.
