I've always loved to read ever since I was little, and when I was in middle school, we had an opportunity to go to a book signing of my favorite author at the time, Meg Cabot. I went, and I listened to her talk about her life and how she loved to write and make new characters and new worlds. And that was her JOB. I thought of how I would LOVE to do that. She signed a book for me, and to this day, I still have that book sitting on my bookshelf, and whenever I am feeling down or distraught about my writing, I look at that book and am reminded what I am working toward.

I've been dreaming of the Tyler and Sam story for so long that I can't even tell you where the idea first came from. And after I finished the first one, the ideas for two and three just came flowing out!
And I already have ideas for other stories in the works too!

Keep going. It took me YEARS to finish my first. Just write. Whenever and wherever...even if it's on the back of an old scrap of paper. Write down every idea you don't want to forget, and just sit down and write. Even if it's not good, you can always make changes or completely re-do it! I rewrote my first chapter of A Constant surprise at least 15 times!

Getting to make a new world all your own! Sometimes, it's nice to forget every problem and worry and escape into the world I've created.

This is going to sound like a weird answer....but when I'm driving, I tend to talk out loud to myself to try to think of new ideas. Start thinking about a scene or a conversation between two characters, and the ideas just kind of flow out.

I actually just finished Tyler and Sam: Book 2, and it is about to start the editing phase. While that's happening, I am eager to start on Book 3 to finish telling their story!
