Where are the missing socks that go into the dryer and never come out. If I ever find the answer to that, I could open a sock store!

Hi Barbara--Sorry for the delay in answering! I don't believe it would stop you from reviewing on Amazon since they are affiliated. But sometimes Amazon does have a mind of its own, lol, so I'm not 100% sure on that! Still, friends are always better! :-)

Creating fictional worlds where everything works out the way I want! As the writer, I'm in complete control of that and I'm not sure there's many other places in life where that's true.

Don't get too wrapped up in selling your writing when you first start. Get the story on the page. Don't let perfection stop you because editing is when the magic truly happens and you make your work shine. Keep learning your craft always. And equally important--surround yourself with positive people and other writers. Sometimes writing can be lonely, and it helps to have people in your world that understand the angst of it all. On the other side, writer friends get it when you write that great sentence and are there to celebrate when the planets align!

I do timed writing sprints. I find sitting and thinking to be the worst possible way for me to get on the other side of a block. Even if it's junk I'm putting on the page, at least I get the creative juices flowing and the block is gone in no time.

The idea for DERAILED came from my years working in downtown Portland for lawyers in the high rises above mass transit. What if someone fell in front of one of those commuter trains? What if it wasn't an accident? As I worked to answer those questions, the story unfolded about who the victim was, and what about their life led them to that fateful night.

I approach it from a different angle in that I show up each day at the same time and wait for inspiration to appear. Truth is, some days I don't feel all that creative. Or I'm stuck on where the story should go next. But if I show up and start writing, an idea will strike me and away I go!

I've finished edits on Deadly TIdes, the next book in the Misty Pines mystery series, and will soon be getting edits on my new domestic suspense out June 2024! So what's a writer to do in between? Write more books of course!
I'm nearing the end of another domestic suspense where a prank between a husband and wife go terribly wrong! It's so different from what I've written before, and I'm having a lot of fun torturing, I mean, making it difficult on my characters!! :-)
