Great question. Anything block... feeling stuck like we are tapped out of fresh ideas is frustrating no matter if it's a to do list or a full length book. I believe (as I talk about in the book) a sensory refresh helps. Go outside change things up. Take in fresh sensory information, sights, sounds, smells, and start all over again!

One of the best things about writing (for me) was learning new ways to connect with people. I am a body language guru --so I love the challenge of transforming the tone of an idea into words on paper. Another benefit is that I can do it in an office, home, from my bed, on the train, plane or on the beach. Because of this "benefit" I have to pump up my self discipline and make a schedule (which was not a strength for me).

Learn to trust constructive criticism, be flexible and write everyday. Pages that I thought were so tidy and interesting before revisions surprised me with their improvement after revisions. The best advice I ever got was to explain my book's main idea and who I was writing to and why it was unique in a few sentences. It made me focus on the main mission of the book.

I am working on a podcast about the value of kids participating in competitive activities (sport, academics, and the arts).
I would love to develop a children's series focusing on the 10 influences I mention in my book. I think they would be a great conversation starter for parents.

I love books especially self-help and nonfiction. I must admit I thought about writing a book many times and even started one a few times but did not know how to connect ideas to paper. I was approached after the Olympics about the message I wrote on the porch after my divorce. The more I was asked to explain what it was about and my motives behind it the more I saw a book develop.
