Abigail G. Thompson This is a very timely question because I dealt with a serious bout, I guess, you could say of writer's block. I don't think I handle it in the typical way some writers do, I try to give myself grace by taking a break. I don't try to write through it like most people suggest. I think that's quite foolish, to be honest, your mind is trying to say. "Hey, you've pushed me too far, take a break, go live some life, and come back to me." And you know what, it works! Take a day, a week, a month off, and just live, not worry about how many words you're writing. The inspiration and will come again, trust me, I know it's scary, it almost feels like giving up, but it's not. Writers are artists, not machines, we cannot expect constant inspiration and quality. I believe stepping back and being gracious to yourself goes a long way in getting the drive and love back for writing.
