Partly from doing a series of articles on Elvis Presley's first few years as a recording artist and partly from a friend's suggestion that I also look at his early television appearances. The idea of focusing on TV came from that.

That's usually just a way of saying I'm being lazy and don't want to work. For me, writing is work and it's never purely inspired. There are times where it does take on a life of its own on very good days, but mostly I have to work at it by putting words on paper. It's always better to put something there, no matter how dissatisfied you are with it because you can always rework it later or just start over. It's really important to get your ideas down right away.
