I'm finishing up a short Legend story. I'm not allowed to talk about it, but I've had a blast writing it. There's so much a writer can pull from all the campfire tales of our youth. Being much older gives you time to mull over some fascinating theories. Writing them in book form means you get to tell your own interpretations to lots of other like-minded bookish friends.

Read Stephen King's book "On Writing" from cover to cover. Get a notebook, and take notes. He says to read a lot and write a lot. He goes on to explain how to set up a serene atmosphere for writing, what tools you need at your fingertips, and the importance of being as truthful as you can. He talks about situations and characters, setting up a scene, dialogue, drafts, and back stories. Everything you need to know about writing fiction is in his book. Take his advice. I sure did ;)
