Mark Simon How could you not want to visit Hogwarts, as long as the Deatheaters aren't visiting. Trying magic and visiting Hagrid's hut would be a blast.
Mark Simon I love to share stories, so it's not hard to sit and write them out. My biggest issue is available time. I work on big film and TV projects which take up most of my time. I was able to use the unexpected extra time during the Covid shutdown to finish two of my books, including my memoir, Attacked!
Mark Simon I love sharing stories. I do that when I write. I do it when I draw storyboards for hit shows like The Walking Dead, Stranger Things, Vampire Academy, Flight Attendant and others. The cartoons I draw are stories. The public speaking I do is about sharing stories. Writing is one tool for me to share stories and I love it.
Mark Simon Since I'm working on the show Doom Patrol, I bought access to DC Universe. I've been reading some new comics on there.
I just started reading Max Brooks' Devolution. I loved his last book.
I just finished William Goldman's Adventures in the Screen Trade. I love behind-the-scenes stories.
I also just finished Douglas Richards' Mind War. I love his writing. It reminds me of the science-faction of Crichton.
Mark Simon I am also an artist, so I get the question, how do you deal with artist's block too.
Deadlines.
I am very busy in my life. I run a business, I work on huge movies and TV shows, I create new concepts, write books, raise my kids and customize my home and studio.
What does any of this have to do with writer's block? I don't have time for it. I always have deadlines which has trained me to just sit and work when I need to.
I also love what I do. It's easy to work every day when it's fun.
But, of course, there are moments when I don't have an answer for something in my art or writing. I'll stop and go work out, or take a walk. Just change the scenery. When I'm working on location at The Walking Dead, I may take a walk through the sound stages or on the backlot to Hilltop. Even if it's only 15-20 minutes, I'll have an answer when I sit back down to work.
Those deadlines are always there and they don't care how I feel. The only way to beat them, is to finish and deliver.
Mark Simon I am finishing my memoir of when I was bullied, Attacked. The bullying grew until the gang attacked my family in our front yard. The attacks continued for months until we beat them in a court of law.

I was the first person in the United States to successfully hold parents responsible for the actions of their kids.

This is a deeply personal story. And I included many photos from the time as well as some court documents that I still have, 40 years later.

I'm very proud of this book. I'm really excited to share it with everyone soon.
Mark Simon My most recent book was Start At The Top. It's a business inspirational book I wrote for my twin sons. They are in college and starting on their careers. I've had a few amazing careers and was always able to leap frog into management positions quickly. This book is for them, and for everyone who want to succeed and leap past barriers in their careers.

I had been telling stories of my past to my boys, but there was always something that I learned from each exploit. Whether from success or failure, there was something to learn. By putting my stories, most of which they had already heard, into writing, I could flush out what I wanted them to learn from it.
