I take a break. I have other creative hobbies that I fill in this time with, like drawing, colouring, or crocheting, OR I talk it out with friends, brainstorming why I am stuck if that its hindering particular work in progress. A new perspective can make a world of difference.

I drew a lot as a kid, making comics to tell stories. It was my Gr. 5 teacher who first introduced me to the concept of writing my own stories and well it took off from there. It was mostly just a creative outlet until my Gr. 8 teacher acknowledged a very long story that I had written (fanfiction) at a school assembly. I felt very honoured to have this vindicated as actual work (it was all handwritten, so I wasn't yet at the stage of posting my fanfics online).

Most of my ideas come from dreams that I have. I am a lucid dreamer, so if conditions are right I can wake up and then dive back in. Many of these types of dreams are incredibly vivid and I will recall many details and emotions. I try to keep a record of them because you never know when it can amount to more than just a scribbled blurb on a page.
