I don't really get writers block. I'll write poems or song lyrics, or even outline. I'll write ideas out or maybe just a piece of random dialogue. There's always something to write.

Some of the best advice I've heard that's helped me is not to punish yourself if you don't get a chance to write every day. Sometimes I might just think about what I want to write for a day or two or three, and then when I finally do sit down to write, the words seem to come much easier.

As You Were was originally a screenplay I had written a few years back. I decided to turn it into a novel and explore the characters in a much more intimate way. The idea came to me one day when I asked myself what would happen if a badass assassin was more like Patrick Bateman than Jason Bourne?
