Hello! Just finished my second read through of your “The Divide” trilogy, love the series, and I want more! Is there any plan for a book 4?
J.S. Dewes Hi! Thanks for reading, I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the series. Though it’s not currently set to be traditionally published, I’m working on what would be the fourth and final right now. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it out to readers one way or another, only time will tell!

I am reading The Last Watch currently and I am liking it a lot so far. I am a bit confused by the scale of the universe vs galaxy. Is The divide at the 'end' of the universe or of the galaxy? Book says universe but every explanation implies galaxy. Anyhow, hope you have nice holidays!
J.S. Dewes Thanks, I'm so glad you're enjoying it!

The Divide is the edge of the universe, specifically. Their galaxy is positioned "near" (100 million ly) the edge, so there's nothing of note between the Divide and their galaxy. But the Divide itself doesn't encroach on their galaxy (yet, at least... 😅)

Why have you not written more books!? I'm 1 quarter through Rubicon and it pains me to realize I have to wait until next year for more books from you! Joke aside, I'm really thoroughly enjoying your books, I find the characters and world building fantastic. You have a fan!

Loving The Divide! I am curious. What are all the ranks and how are they aligned? I'd love to know if there are also other ranks that you haven't assigned to any characters yet.

I don’t have a “final" rank structure as I’ve intentionally left some room in case I ever need to ret-con in extra ranks, haha.

This is the current order, though there may be extra ranks between some of them:

– oculus (akin to private)
– circitor
– animus
– optio
– legator
– dextera*
– centurion
– excubitor
– praetor (akin to five-star general)

Will Rubicon be a standalone or part of a series? (also thanks for the amazing stories! Your books are a delight.)
J.S. Dewes Though originally I'd considered it a standalone, it does have duology potential! Nothing confirmed yet, but it'd be really fun to write a sequel if the publishing gods agree! :)

Yes, book #3 is confirmed, no release date just yet though! There are also side character backstories & other short stories set in the Divide universe available on my Patreon!

Book #3 will be coming in 2024 or 2025! Currently only the third is confirmed. I plan for at least 4, though I hope for even more!
