Nathan Best The beast's jaws slid open, saliva dripping thickly from its fangs. The Watcher stood in the dark.
Nathan Best It would be Brian Lumley's, Vampire World. I would sit and observe the strangeness of it all.
Nathan Best I am on a classics binge at the moment. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is next up, followed by The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin. I read on average 40 books a year. Being an author means being a good reader of other Author's work.
Nathan Best I often simply look at the sky. It is dynamic and interesting place to loose yourself in and let your mind freewheel a bit.
Nathan Best My second novel Czar Creek is in the final two week phase before publication. While my favourite editor/proofer is ploughing through that manuscript for me, I am redrafting what will be my third novel.
Nathan Best Write, write, read, read and write some more. Only write if you enjoy it and be prepared to sacrifice time with friend and loved ones to achieve your goal. It is a time consuming task but it brings a deep sense of accomplishment and joy. Seeing your name on the book you wrote being available for others to read is awe inspiring to say the least. Keep going, live your dream. Welcome to the brotherhood.
Nathan Best Constructing any world I like with all the toys and excitement I enjoy. I also love being able to trigger emotions in other people with my words. It is very satisfying to see someone smiling at a joke I have slipped in.
Nathan Best I have never suffered from writer's block as such. I suffer from what I call writer's slow, where I can still produce work but it is at an incredibly low rate. For example say I write ten manuscript pages a day normally, when writer's slow kicks in it might take me the same time to accomplish two pages.
Nathan Best Burnt September is the first published novel of mine, but is actually the fourth one I had written at the time. The idea for Burnt September formed from my years hiking around the Northern Territory in Australia roaming over the many abandoned World War 2 airbases and visiting fifty of the known aircraft wreck sites. The idea of a group of boys adventuring through the outback appeals to me. I use strong young adult male role models to carry the story
