The best escape from reality is your imagination. You can do anything inside your head. But what I like the most is that I can always make happy those who suffered in life and died unhappily. I can give them a second chance and create their happy ending, like if by a swoosh of a magic wand.

Grandmother’s coffin stood in the middle of the room on two wooden stools, directly opposite the couch on which we slept with my younger sister. On the floor, right under the coffin, there was a huge tub half-filled with a thick, red solution of potassium permanganate to eliminate odor, but our fears convinced us of the opposite - we took this crimson mixture for nothing but blood.

Sometimes you can get inspired by sitting on the rock by the lake, and sometimes it is enough of a few raindrops, but surely, I get easily inspired by nature rather than by traffic jams. Often, my own experience, my emotions play me in favor. Writing is a two-sided process: mental and mechanical. If we are talking in terms of ideas, which is a mental state, then even if you don't have an ocean before your eyes, you can always create this ocean within yourself. From a mechanical point of view - yes, occasionally, it might be challenging to sit down and write these ideas. We are all humans and tempted to get lazy or moody - whatever. However, I don't like to chase after my inspiration. If I don't have any insights and impulses to write, then I probably have exhausted my experience and stopped dreaming, which means I have probably died.

The story badly annoyed me for years. A decade at least. When my mom passed away in 2007, the story started to haunt me. In particular, there were two questions shadowed me everywhere. The questions that my mom had been asking herself while sorting out some mysterious relationships in her neighborhood. With those questions everything had been turned upside down for me before I dared to write. I became obsessed with my idea of the book in which I was going to answer them.
