Mike Watson When I was in high school, I would go hunting after school---i grew up in the country. In this instance, I was hunting squirrels. Next to our farm was another with twice the acreage, mostly overgrown.

One day, I was hunting in a new area, one I'd not ever visited. In this area was a long, overgrown field with some wide, single story buildings at one end. As any curious kid, I checked out the buildings. Inside were several aircraft, some Piper Cubs and some metal skinned aircraft, '30s vintage aircraft. The buildings were hangers and the field was an abandoned airfield.

Why was it there? Later, when I got home, I asked my parents about the airfield. They didn't know it existed. None of our neighbors knew, either.

I've always wondered about that airfield and the aircraft abandoned there. Why weren't the airplanes flow out? The Piper Cubs were cloth covered and much of their skin coverings were animal and insect eaten. The metal-skinned aircraft, looked new, if cleaned of the exterior dirt and grime.

I've always known there was a story there, about that airfield, and the hangered airplanes. I just didn't know what it was.

Mike Watson I once took a business trip to Canada, spent some time there. I was surprised, while Canada appeared to be the same as the US on first look, it wasn't. That led to some thoughts how minor differences can lead to major misconceptions.
