For the Shards of Sevia series, I gathered a lot of ideas/inspiration from personal experiences and those of friends while living overseas. And I just enjoy writing about people--interesting people, strange people, awful people...romances (good ones, anyway) are excellent character studies.

My husband and I worked with a humanitarian aid organization in Afghanistan for several years…before that I taught English at a school in Sanaa, Yemen (when I was still single.)

I think I'm a bit "traveled-out." Pretty happy here in boring old Missouri. I do know for sure I wouldn't be interested in visiting Sevia any time soon!

To be honest, I'm not sure that I've ever experienced real writer's block. I'm either writing or doing something else.

Inspiration only really comes when I just decide I’m going to do it and start typing. I always have the story in my head, but getting it out is sometimes challenging.

"Wrong Place, Right Time" is a romance, so it was inspired, at least in part, by my own relationship with my husband. Writing a love story is a fascinating character study.

I love creating new things, and writing stories is one of the most satisfying ways I've found for doing that. Also, it's something that requires essentially no supplies and you can do it pretty much anywhere.

I'm working on another "Sevia" novel. This one's a thriller. If all goes well, it should be out in a few months.
