M.J. Marino I was reading a lot of romances at the time, trying to decide what avenue in writing I wanted to go with. I really liked the idea of alpha males, strong-willed women, retired military, security, MC -- there were too many avenues I wanted to pursue. Why can't I write a story that has all these elements? So I decided to combine them all and created my own mashup. The story came pretty easy to me after that.
M.J. Marino Hearing back from readers letting you know how much they enjoyed the novel. If others love it as much as you do, there is no greater feeling. It gives you justification in your work and motivates you to keep going.
M.J. Marino There really is a lot to say on this, but what it really comes down to is sitting your butt down and writing the book. The more books you write, the bigger your following will get. Keep writing your stories and push out all the self-doubt.
M.J. Marino An overactive imagination is probably what inspires me the most when it comes to writing. I'm a bit of a daydreamer and my mind wanders while I'm working on other tasks. Inspiration for a new story often comes to me during these multitasks moments and I will quickly write down my thoughts to help remind me later on when I have time to sit down and write.
