Brock Gibbs When I experience interesting things and situations, I want to share them with people. When I train, I do it entirely alone (which is how I want it to be), but I often come across things that I think others like me would find attractive or interesting. Writing about them is how I share these experiences.
Brock Gibbs I deal with writer's block in a few ways. The first is to exercise until I am exhausted. This tends to reset my entire body. If that doesn't work, then I will simply pick an object I see lying around the house and write down everything I know about the object (where I got it from, what it is used for, what I use it for, when it was used last). Then I give the object a bit of a life outside of where it presently is. This gets the juices flowing, and writing tends to get easier afterwards.
Brock Gibbs Being a writer allows you to express yourself exactly the way you want to be heard.
Brock Gibbs Just start. You don't have to have the finished product in your head (it will evolve). Just begin writing down what you have. Also, don't worry about the first draft being any good. There will be several others to follow with each one better than the last.
Brock Gibbs I am currently working on my second book which is also about triathlon. This time I will approach the topic from a different angle. It will be based on my experiences, but there will be several different themes covered. At least I think that's what will happen. My last book evolved organically on a daily basis.
Brock Gibbs I got the idea for my book at Heathrow Airport. I was looking for something to read on triathlon. Of course, there was nothing (there never is), so I looked into the other books they head in the sports section. I noticed that there were a variety of different kinds of books. Sitting in the waiting lounge, I searched the internet for triathlon books. There weren't many, and the only ones I found were training guides or guides on how to buy a bike, shoes, helmet, etc. I decided to fill this void myself
