Chandra A. Clements Have children!! Ha Ha! I get so little time to write that writer's block isn't a problem. By the time I deal with the 46 interruptions getting playdough, food, finding toys and changing princess dressses, any issue I had with my train of thought is resolved and I am ready and bursting to write!
Chandra A. Clements I received an email recently from a grandmother who wrote of the impact my first book (which is totally illustrated by my four-year-old daughter Tara) has had on her family. It is called Rona Stole My Fun : The Four Year Old Vs The Virus and is a book about social distancing and working from home through the eyes of a four-year-old. It was designed to help little people feel safe that their fun would not be lost and that everything would be ok. The grandmother wrote that the book brought her family together across Australia and America despite Covid 19 and made them feel like they weren’t missing out on family time. It thanked my daughter extensively for her beautiful pictures and went on to say that our book has “shared our family with her family”. If we can help make big and little people feel better in this uncertain period of Covid 19 then both Tara and I are absolutely thrilled. It's moments like this that are the best!
Chandra A. Clements It would be remiss of me to advise when I am only so new. But what I could say is be raw with your writing and write about whatever makes you come alive.
Chandra A. Clements My most recent work is a charity book designed to raise funds for vulnerable women and girls in Papua New Guinea. I was approached by the founder of the charity as to whether I would write it and I decided it was the right time and the right cause. I feel very connected to issues of women's rights and poverty and I really feel this book can make a difference in some desperate and remote regions of PNG. It's called Rona Stole Our Relief: The Plight of PNG Women. It will hopefully raise a lot of money and save lives!
Chandra A. Clements I literally wake up in the middle of the night and feel I have to write. This usually leads to hours and hours at my computer while it all just pours out and then I stop and wait for new inspiration. Lately, my inspiration has been coming from the people I have randomly met and their stories of hardship or otherwise. Everyone has a story to be told. It just takes the right person to tell it. xx
Chandra A. Clements I am currently writing a book based on a number of real-life case studies around women and their modern-day challenges. This book will deal with the sensitive issues of sexual harassment, domestic violence, low self-esteem, family conflict, imposter syndrome, balancing work and life challenges and knowing your worth. It is a book I have always wanted to write and I'm glad its finally going down on paper.
