Thank you so much, Margaret! It's kind of you to take time to reach out—I'm so thrilled you enjoyed my books. I'm currently working on the next one. No publication date yet, but I'm excited about it. Messages like this one are an inspiration to get it done :) Thanks again!

Thank you for giving my books a chance—I'm so glad you enjoyed them. I am currently working on #4, though it's early days. My self-imposed deadline is to finish it by the end of this year at the latest (though it then takes quite a while to actually get published). But I'm on it!

Hi Kari, Thanks so much for the question. I was researching small winter towns way upstate when I came across Potsdam (I'd heard of it but never been there), and the more I learned about it, the more it felt like the perfect setting. It has such great history and personality, and the two college campuses added a nice element to work with. A visit there sealed the deal for me. I hope it rang true for you. Potsdam will always have a special place in my heart now :)

My publisher is actually working on all that now so I don't have final details, only that it will be released the same day as the hardcover. Thanks for the question!

Hi—thanks for the question. Yes, the audiobook is going into production shortly. I agree that Barrie did a wonderful job. As of this moment I don't have final details yet as to who will narrate, but it will be released on 1/14/25 along with the hardcover. If you have any interest you can preorder so it will notify you automatically when it's released (https://celadonbooks.com/book/what-ha...). Thanks so much and I hope you love it!

Thank you, Lisa! Means so much to get this. My third book will be out next August (What Happened to the McCrays?)—I hope you give it a shot!

Hey Lonnie, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to send this lovely note! I'm thrilled you liked the Connellys—those characters will always be close to my heart. I don't rule anything out, but I can't say I have plans now for a sequel or follow up that will involve the Connellys. I do like to include brief references to my previous books in the ones that follow; just a quick way of reaching back to them and reminding us all the world can be a small place. Thanks so much again! Best, Tracey

Hi Kevin—so sorry for the delay! I somehow missed this pending question until today. So nice to hear you were part of the virtual talk last year, which I really enjoyed. I have not read The Year of the French, but I checked it out and it looks right up my alley. Thanks for the suggestion. Wonderful to hear about your debut coming out this fall—Congrats! The months leading up to pub day are exciting, but, at least for me, bring their own stress as well. Good luck as the date gets closer, and enjoy the ride :) Best, Tracey

Hi Annalisa, Thank you so much for your interest! I believe the answer to your question is yes, but the best bet is to contact my publisher because I'm not entirely sure how all that works. The person to contact would be christine.mykityshyn@celadonbooks.com. I hope that's helpful. Thanks again!

Hi Liz, I have many favorite books, but a few highlights: I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb, The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne, The Dutch House by Anne Patchett, and Beartown by Fredrik Backman. I've always been a voracious reader, and my inspiration really came from all the authors I've read—I hoped to some day be able to write novels and tell my own stories :)
Thanks for the question! Tracey

Hi Kate, thanks for the kind words—and the question! I actually haven't seen that format before, and I didn't really set out to create a new "device" :) I used it to give myself a structure of sorts, a way to try to keep the narrative tight with so many characters. I wasn't even sure it would make it to the final draft, but fortunately it did. Thanks again! Tracey

Hi Jeannette, thanks for your question :) It's something I'm stewing on right now because so many people have asked. I wouldn't mind spending more time with this family—I would just have to nail down what's happening for them all next! Best, Tracey

Hey Michele,
Thank you so much for reaching out! It means more than you know. A sequel was not part of the plan, but so many people have asked that I can't help but think about it. I would just need to figure out their next adventure... :)

Hi Kristin,
Thanks for the question! Honestly, a sequel was not part of the plan—I just never thought about it. But since publication I’ve been asked this question so many times I can’t help but think about it. I wouldn’t mind spending more time with the Brennans, so it’s under consideration!
Best,
Tracey

That's so interesting to hear—thanks for the questions. I've spent a lot of time in good Irish pubs, so I hoped to capture that feeling, and I spent time in Mamaroneck growing up. But, no, the pub in the novel is not based on any particular establishment. Pretty cool to hear there's something similar out there!

Thanks for question, Christina! Honestly, a sequel was never part of the plan. However, I must admit that I am getting this question more and more all the time. Although I'm pretty steeped in another project right now, I don't rule anything out—just have to give that one some more thought!

Hi Lorri, I am interested in book clubs, however, my publisher has scheduled several events coming up around publication day and the following few weeks so I think I'm going to have to get through those first :) I appreciate the question and will post updates about that on my website as well when the time comes. Thanks!!
Lorri Williams
We received early reads for our book club and meet tonight! I do wish you could join us, that would have been so much fun.

Hi Soon, Thanks for reaching out. We are working on getting some good discussion questions posted on my website (traceylange.com). It will likely take a week or two (sorry about that), but we'll get them up there ASAP!

Hi Laura—yes, it is my debut, and thank you so much for these kind words! I'm so glad you're enjoying :)

Thank you! And yes, my maiden name was O'Hare :)
