H. Hennenburg Riders of the Tempest: The Story of WE came about when many of the poems I was writing in 2019 began to tell a story in my mind. It was about a movement in consciousness from the separateness of individuality to a shared sense of oneness with all-that-is. I continued writing until no new poems added to the imagery of that story and then I created the collection that I hope leaves readers with a sense that there is something more than what we see of the world and the ways we tend to see it.
H. Hennenburg Generally, I clear my mind and cultivate a sense of openness to whatever comes. I don't judge or try to direct the ideas and words as they surface; I just trust the process and allow the flow. I can always go back and edit later. Often, I get some spontaneous inspiration when I'm in nature or when I'm traveling. I do feel stuck sometimes, and I've trained myself not to panic. I know from experience, the inspiration will start to flow again eventually. I also recently took an on-line course by Jessica Brody called Conquering Writer's Block (Writing Mastery), and found her ideas to be quite useful at getting the creative juices flowing.
