LoLo Paige Hi Carmen! Thank you for your inquiry about inspiration for Alaska Spark. I was a wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Alaska Fire Service early in my career and had some amazing experiences fighting wildfires. Later I wrote a true story for The Anchorage Press newspaper about my fire crew's narrow escape on an Alaskan fire. My story won an award from the Alaska Press Club and one of the judges suggested I write a novel based on that true event. So I combined real life with fiction, and being a lover of romance I had to write this story! Thanks so much for asking :)
LoLo Paige Re-reading some of my favorites: All The Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr, The Hating Game, by Sally Thorne, and The Kiss Quotient, by Helen Hoang. And after living in Alaska all this time, thought I'd read Alaska, by James Michener.
LoLo Paige Stories are always kicking around in my brain. I jot them down and the one that cycles through the most I begin to write.
LoLo Paige Read my favorite books. I read in all genres, not just romance. I love romantic suspense crime thrillers, sci-fi, and geopolitical crime thrillers. Anything by Marc Cameron, Mark Greaney, Mark Dawson (love the Marks LOL) Linda Howard, Tami Hoag, and of course Nora!

I don't get writer's block so much as I get tired and my battery drains. That's when I binge on a good series. Now that GOT is over, I've gone back to Poldark and Outlander. Diana Gabaldon is the author who inspired me to write romance. She does it like no other!
LoLo Paige I get to make stuff up and lie for a living :)
LoLo Paige Write about your passion and never give up, no matter what!
LoLo Paige Book 2 of the Blazing Hearts Wildfire Series will be ALASKA INFERNO, continuing the exploits of Aurora Crew with Liz and Jon as the main characters this time, as they are assigned to work on the largest wildfire in Alaska's history on the beautiful and spectacular Kenai Peninsula.
LoLo Paige I worked as a wildland firefighter in Montana, Alaska, and California a while back. I wrote a true story for The Anchorage Press about our fire crew's close call experiences on a dangerous fire in Interior Alaska. The story won a 2016 Alaska Press Club award for best historical nonfiction, all media. ALASKA SPARK is loosely based on that story and inspired by other real events. It was the most fun I've ever had writing!
