Michael J. Marini I had an idea to write a book in 2001. It haunted me day and night until it was published in 2018!
Michael J. Marini Sometimes when I am in "writing mode" I get the thought that I could potentially inspire someone I have never met merely through my words.
Also, I tend to do my best writing very late at night or in the early morning when everything is quiet in the world. So the other thing I like best about being a writer are the hours.
Michael J. Marini Born to Run and Musicophilia are on my list for sure. After I finish those two I have a book about Frank Sinatra I would like to read.

When I am on the beach I like to read books about boxing. They are my guilty pleasure along with Columbo reruns. Last year I read Rocky Marciano's biography on the beach. This year it's between George Foreman's autobiography and Sugar Ray Robinson's biography.
Michael J. Marini I come up with a lot of my ideas while I'm playing the piano. It gets my brain going and inspires me to write.

Also, going for a nice long run inspires me to write. Some of my best writing days have started with a morning run while I listen to my "writing playlist".
Michael J. Marini The initial idea and inspiration was because of my seven sisters. It started simply enough as a seven chapter book about each of them. Over the years it turned into something much more than the original "idea".
Michael J. Marini Go for a long run or play the piano. I had writer's block for so long one time that I began leaving a rough draft of my book in every room of my house. It was a constant reminder that I could still finish the book. I even kept a copy on the front seat of my car. It gave me a feeling of hope in a time of doubt. Writer's block is a beast that every writer has to go to battle with at some point in their writing career. We all slay it differently. Find your sword and slay the beast.

Having a fellow writer, artist, family member or friend to talk to also helps with navigating through the quiet times in the journey to finish a book.
Michael J. Marini Writing is a marathon, not a sprint. Every word you write is a step closer to the finish line. Chip away at it everyday and never give up no matter how long it may take. Visualize the book you wish to write and bring it to life.
