G.H. White Most of my characters come to me as voices firstly, and their image later. "Life and Love of a Knuckleballer" is based on a man I knew for several years. Most of the sexual situations were his. He was a man of conscience and honor. He knew he had to find something of quality to do to break the cycle of the women.
G.H. White My first blind date was with a beautiful woman, until the moonlight struck her face and she changed into an unnatural horror. This was also my last date of anykind.
G.H. White North America, circa 1200. Carefully trek from the East Coast to the West. Meet American Indians before the corruption of the Vikings and any other European influence. To see, feel, and smell for me how much has changed.
G.H. White Boom, Devoted, Catch 22, Doctor Sleep, The Chemist, The Nightingale, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, The Splendid and the VileSatanic Bible, The Minotaur, The Four Winds, Moon Lake, West with Giraffes
G.H. White I grew up in abject poverty, and though my mother tried to apply for government assistance multiple times, she was turned down for aid every time. Why was a mother of two, that was not capable of working, turned down.
G.H. White Writer's block is a common occurrence for most. That is, anyone can fight one's self to write the first word, sentence, paragraph on paper. I allow myself time, with the confidence ideas will erupt sooner than later.
If fear is the main component of the block, it can be overcome with patience and confidence. When one is afraid of criticism, one can fail to allow ideas. A corollary would be, "you can't please everyone, and only a perfectionist would waste time trying."
G.H. White The best thing for me is I follow my nature and drive, finding my voice in a world drowning in Social Media and opinions. I write to hear my own voice and thoughts in a more permanent way. Thoughts that have building for years, emotional contradictions, fears, human failings can be wound into a character and story that relieves me of those same.
G.H. White The hardest obstacle for most singers, writers, performers is facing that one critic in the audience that will say something negative about your work. A work that you birthed, your baby. Be prepared for harsh criticism, accept it, try to absorb any truth from it, but write for the people that are pleased with your efforts.
G.H. White I have one standing series about a female serial killer, but I presently think I will write another from the perspective of my Space Marine. At the moment, though, I am letting my jets cool to allow time for other ideas to bubble to the top.
G.H. White I believe that people are driven internally to write, sing, compose, and perform. Throughout my life, I have written without an audience to read it. I write/read for myself and given someone else enjoys it, a gift from me to ye.
