I read. Reading other people’s books inspires me to get my hustle on and write my own. I also research writing prompts to trigger the creative juices. And sometimes I will watch one of my favorite RomComs which will put me in heartwarming, lovey dovey romance writer mode.

I have several irons in the fire and am currently working on multiple projects simultaneously. Some serialized fiction, some interactive stories, and manuscripts to submit to publishers.

Pretty much the same cliche advice as everyone says, write. Just keep writing. When you feel like giving up and deleting your half-written dumpster fire of a manuscript (and you will), keep on writing still, and eventually you will finish your first draft. Congratulations! That’s half the battle and something to be damn proud of. Take a few days to a week, maybe two, treat yourself to a glass of wine, fresh baked cookies or whatever your vice may be. Then sit back down and reread that first draft, edit, rewrite and make it beautiful.

Freedom. As an indie author I decide my schedule, when I work, how much I work, allotting myself plenty of time for a personal life. Also, I love writing. Except for when I hate it. 🙃 (during times of writer’s block or the gruesome editing process or when I just can’t get the story right). Even then, I wouldn’t want to do anything else in the world.

I usually take a break and try not to force it. Then when I’m distracted doing other things - housework, going for walk, making dinner, what have you, I sometimes get struck with a bolt of creativity, grab the nearest notebook and let the characters talk to me.

Suzanne Brockmann’s world of Tall, Dark, and Dangerous Navy SEALs where the Alpha heroes always save the day with the help of their strong women by their side. Always plenty of danger, drama, sizzling romance, and HEA endings. I can’t get enough!

Moonbeams dance to and fro, illuminating my wooden overcoat. A rhythmic tune ensues, drowning out my cries for help.
