(view spoiler)[Oh yes...writer's block. It's a real thing. I handle writer's block by closing my eyes. Taking a huge inhale and exhaling as I picture myself floating above my computer.....(I know sounds goofy, right) but I picture myself looking down my work and admiring it. Knowing there is more, but giving myself the gift of patience and grace. It will come....I always step away and get out in nature (even if it's raining or snowing)...it's so good for the soul and to be honest - great for a writer's soul. (hide spoiler)]

As a write, I've learned so much about myself. I'm a work in progress as I say in my book, Cannonball! Fearlessly Facing Midlife and Beyond and the best part is I'm always learning. The people I have met along this journey have inspired me in ways I never knew were possible. On the other side of fear is magic...and there is magic in being a writer.

There is so much power in these two words: JUST START. Don't put things off...don't wait to things to be perfect - or get in your own way. Don't wait - just start. And never have others diminish your spark....burn bright and take on your project, your story, your essay, your book with confidence. Your voice...your message is important to you and more importantly important for others to hear, to see or to read! Don't give up.

I love this question. With the state of pandemic, my launch is all virtual..which is challenging as a new author, as I was so excited to high five and hug everyone on my tour. But as I say in the book....there are times you need to recalibrate and begin again on a new course. I host a podcast weekly called, Fearlessly Facing Fifty, which also is encouraging midlife to be an opportunity not a crisis. And sharing stories of incredible people taking on the challenges and having their "cannonball" moments. I am leading workshops on podcasting and virtual book clubs and can't wait to get out there on the stage in front of people...connecting and encouraging.

I have always loved to write. From the days of my Hello Kitty Diary (with a key, of course) to college essays and beyond. It's a form of therapy for me. It's very easy for me to jot my thoughts down on paper. Everyday is such a gift and I look at it through a lens of gratefulness. As I started to write Cannonball! Fearlessly Facing Midlife and Beyond, I had to approach it as a job. I showed up everyday and jotted something down....now certainly there were days I could write an entire chapter and then those days that I could barely write three sentences - but that's the beauty of writing - just start...and continue to weave the pieces together into your masterpiece.

It was about 6 months before I turned 50. I had lost my parents, had some health issues come up unexpectedly, I've been married to 27 years with 3 kids - 2 of which are grown and flown...and as I was sitting around having conversations with my friends, we were all talking about the same things. The commonalities we share at this stage of life. So I decided to begin opening the dialogue and taking action by sharing my story with hopes of inspiring others to reflect on their highlight reel and take on this phase of life without fear...and instead with confidence! It was my cannonball moment to take on the challenge of writing my book and launching my podcast, Fearlessly Facing Fifty.
