Looking back, a Series of Falling Stars actually began more than a decade ago! I woke up in a cold sweat from a dream that didn't fit my life's genre, and it was occupying too much real estate in my head, so being a writer, of course, I took the idea and ran with it.
At first, I just wrote circles around the scenes, trying make sense of things and get the images down on paper and out of my head, but before I knew it, I was regularly making entries in something of a literary soap opera on LiveJournal. While publication was a childhood dream of mine, before Trick of the Spotlight, I'd only ever written for myself and my grandma, so reading the excited comments on LJ and getting outside feedback was such a thrill for me that one night–half-drunk on homemade sangria–I shared some of my stuff with my best friend. She's now my top alpha reader, and something like a big picture editor for my books, and it was her constant nagging that got me to repackage the story into something fit for a wider audience. I'm eternally grateful to her for spurring me forward on what's been an incredible journey so far!
So, there you have it; the books started out as nothing but a figment of a dream, and now they're living, breathing parts of me out there in the world!
