J.G. Follansbee Sorry for the very late answer, but I can tell you that Mr Ballard's initials stand for James Graham, while mine stand for Joseph Gale. Still cool, though, eh?
J.G. Follansbee Thanks for asking this important question. I believe the best way to control overpopulation and the pressures of population on the food supply is female empowerment. Allowing women to take control of their family's economic future encourages them to make healthier choices. Economic development, especially development that provides access for women to capital and markets, is known to slow the birthrate and result in higher standards of living for their children. Fewer children means fewer mouths to feed and a lower impact on the global environment.
J.G. Follansbee Great question! I actually don't like to have music in the background as I write. However, I don't mind going to a coffee shop and work. There's often music in the background, and I don't mind the noise, though I like to find a corner that's a little more private.
J.G. Follansbee Writers block is a myth. It's just your internal self-doubt saying you're not good enough. Tell him/her to get the hell out of your way. You have a story to tell.
J.G. Follansbee I always look forward to that moment after I've finished a scene that achieved a goal I set for myself. It's almost euphoric.
J.G. Follansbee Sit your butt down and pound out the words every day.
J.G. Follansbee I'm currently working on a series of short stories that are a kind of mashup of Arthurian legends (Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, and so on) and climate change themes I've explored in Tales From A Warming Planet. I might publish some of these stories in 2018 or 2019.
J.G. Follansbee To paraphrase Thomas Edison, writing is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration. I write nearly every day, even if I don't really feel like. You can't produce if you don't sit your behind in a chair and pound out the words.
J.G. Follansbee I got the idea for Carbon Run from my home town, Seattle, which is very "green" oriented. I wondered, what if Seattle's environmental ethic were taken to extremes? My novel was a result of that question.
