M.K. Stabley Creative freedom. You can take an idea and make it pop. That idea can go off into many different directions. I can write the story I want to read.
M.K. Stabley That's a great question. I really have to think about that one. Okay, I cam actually think of one thing... it didn't happen to me personally, but my grandfather, when he was in a nursing home. Things started going missing at my grandparents home, like jewelry and expensive trinkets, etc. My parents noticed checks written for cash in large amounts, which made my parents concerned, as well. After questioning my grandfather, my dad figured out a nurse was conning him into giving her things and money. We did some digging into her name and found she had multiple aliases. My father went to the manager of the nursing home and she was fired.
So that, I could definitely write into a pretty good story, for sure.
M.K. Stabley I like Goodreads, for the most part, but it's harder to interact with the readers on here, than it is, say, Facebook.
M.K. Stabley I am currently working on book 2 in this series, Eva St. Claire Mysteries. This book will be titled Die at the Races. Again, this will be a Cozy Mystery with a twist. I'm excited to get this one finished. I hope to have it out by Christmas.
M.K. Stabley I listen to music from my Spotify list. I will put my earbuds in and turn it up loud. My music tastes vary, so I could be listening to Zac Brown Band one minute, and Post Malone/Ozzy Osbourne the next. But, it seems to help, and it tunes all other distractions out.
M.K. Stabley I've always like Charlaine Harris' True Blood books, and the whole Louisiana vibe, so I think I would have to choose that. I would be more like Sookie Stackhouse, the heroine with a special gift, who seems to find trouble everywhere she goes, but doesn't take crap from anyone. :)
M.K. Stabley Ah, the books I am currently reading are Calle J. Brookes PAVAD series, which are FBI Romantic Suspense. I have also started on Stephanie Meyers new addition to the Twilight books, Midnight Sun, which I am really enjoying.
My favorite genre is typically Mystery and Suspense, with some Romance thrown in, but I do like the Paranormal world, as well.
M.K. Stabley I worked in a salon that was inside a hundred year old building, with a back alley that had a rusty and rickety fire escape. Working with all the ladies and being around all the clients, I could see a story forming. I was out back in the alley one night, taking garbage out, and it was dark and the light wasn't working, so I couldn't see to well. Once I was back by the fire escape, in the alley, it hit me...this is where it will happen.
I started out with just wanting to write a cozy mystery, but it soon took on a life of it's own and I had to adjust the genre a bit to a cozy mystery, with a twist. Hence A Killer Cut was born.
I also turned it into a series, which I am now currently working on the second book, Die at the Races.
