I usually start with an outline. Since I mostly write nonfiction I can skip areas that stump me and work on others which may seem easier on that particular day. If I'm totally blocked I have plenty of chores and hobbies to attend to until the inspiration returns.

I'm pretty new at it to be giving advice. Some I've read has worked for me. I try to write at least a page or so a day. If I'm in the mood I continue past that. I plan on several rewrites so first time through I try to get the thoughts down. Later, in rewrites, I work on improving presentation.

I publish articles, have built a website, maintain an author's Facebook page, and am considering a blog. The next book I'm working on will cover living in a manufactured home park and enhancing, or - if need be - creating, the community within the park.

I got the idea from the hundreds of folks I have met in manufactured home parks. Over and over I heard from residents: "If I only knew what I know now when I was buying my home I would have made different choices".
