For the Joan of Arc book, the idea came from my reading of a biography of the saint written by a Swedish author named Sven Stolpe. Wonderful book!
For the Angels book, the idea came from my love of angels and my frustration with superficial views of angels in many current publications.
For the catechetical book, well, I’m being paid. Lots of ideas come when I have a to meet deadlines!

Ongoing reading of inspiring works in my fields of interest. Mostly though, writing is a discipline that I practice every day. Inspirational peaks are rare but they are real. The key to having them is to make writing a regular habit, and then they come when the time and circumstances are right and the inspirational factors converge. Stay with it!

Two tier answer. As of September 2020:
1. Books near publication. I’ve finished a book on Angels, which is in the hands of Beta readers and soon to be in the hands of a publisher. I’ve finished a(nother) short book on Joan of Arc which I will serialize as an email lead magnet. I’m 75% through a catechetical book for a non-profit educational book, which will be published in February.
2. Books on the docket for 2021. A book of reflections on the Virgin Mary and another book called, “Sermons I Wish My Pastor Gave” (stay tuned!)

Stay with it. For years. Never give up. You will see the fruit of your efforts in time. As you go along, decide your best “channel” of creativity and stay with it. It’s better to go deep than wide.

The creative process is what I love most. Being able to see something come to reality on account of one’s own creative energies is truly satisfying. Nothing like it.

Thankfully, I don’t believe I’ve ever had writer’s block. I’m either too voluble or too crazy. Honestly, it might be because I’m a non-profit writer, which deals with concrete realities. Either way, I’m grateful that I’ve been able to fill a page regularly.
