Do not wait for your Muse. She will stand you up. Writing is a craft no different from pottery or basket weaving. Just sit and write. Anything. Then write it again. But do not obsess or polish until you have finished the first draft. There are thousands of would-be authors with beautifully written two chapter books decaying in their bedside drawer. I greatly admire Jeffrey Archer. Any man who rises at 6 am each morning to write, deserves respect. Wear his work ethic like it’s your favourite overcoat. It will be heavy at times but it will always protect you. Writers procrastinate more than any other profession I can think of.
