The United States spends the last 4 years rolling back regulations on everything. In 2020, they are hit with a global pandemic.

Drunk On Sunday is a fictionalized account of my life up until the birth of my daughter in 2006. But Rob Gross is a character. He does things that I wish (and don't wish) I had. In order to write a story that would resonate with people like the stories that resonated with me, I had to let go of it being a memoir and embrace it being a true novel. The end result is far better, in my opinion, and is as authentic if it was just pure recollections from me.

I get inspired by living, listening, watching, and reading. My book is autofiction, but I was inspired by so many things that I either experienced first hand or were derived from some other source of inspiration.

Right now I am collaborating on a screenplay adaptation for Drunk On Sunday. After that, I'm not sure what I will do. I did promise my son that I would write a second part to the story that he is featured in, so I have to keep that promise.

Don't give up but listen to the criticism and see if it's valid. I have been working on this book on and off for 25 years. I knew that everyone before me had dealt with rejection after rejection and told me the same thing. But you don't know how it feels to be told "no" until it happens. It sucks, but if you give yourself some time to process it you will see that it may be helpful. My book went from stories to a memoir to a novel as a result of countless submissions and passes. But rejection can be just rejection sometimes, too. But don't let the process force you to give up something you feel is really important.

The best thing is being able to express yourself creatively and use that writers' "muscle." Everyone doesn't have it, and that's not a bad thing. We all have something that we like to/have to do to feel fulfilled. Not everyone wants to, or feels the need to, write. But if you do and you can, it's a great feeling

Not well. I try to remind myself to take a break. That's good advice for anything. Things will still be there when you when come back to what you were working on. They probably won't be worse and might possibly be better. Even when you aren't thinking about writing, your mind is being opened to new ideas for your work. It's paradoxical, the more you try to fix it, the worse you make it.

I think I'd go to the version of Earth that Roland and Jake visit in The Dark Tower. I'm probably thinking of the New York City that they inhabit, specifically. I lived in Manhattan from 1993-2005 but somehow their perspective coming from MidWorld seems like its a dangerous yet thrilling setting.
