As a Colorado native living and working in Arizona, I couldn't wait to escape the desert heat every summer which meant a lengthy road trip from the concrete and asphalt sprawl of Phoenix to the pristine wilderness of western Colorado. The commute was long but not without its joys: The alpine environs of Flagstaff, Arizona. The stark beauty of the Navajo Reservation. The spectacular scenery of the San Juan Mountains. All these locations are included in my new mystery novel, THE ROAD TO LAVENDER.
